Simon Wells, owner of Officers Quarters Maritime Study House and Officers' Quarters Crew has an established maritime career. Simon originally from Sydney Australia is an experienced yacht captain, currently holding an unrestricted MCA Master 3000 ton and an Australian master class 4. He moved to the United States in 2003 and has enjoyed a successful career operating and managing yachts for over 26 years.

Founder and President
Simon Wells is the visionary founder of Officers Quarters Crew, nestled in the yachting capital of the world, Fort Lauderdale. With over 26 years of maritime experience, Simon is a seasoned yacht captain who holds an MCA Master 3000GT license. His journey through global waters and commanding some of the most prestigious vessels in the industry has equipped him with a deep understanding of the challenges and dedication required to excel in yachting.
My career has been anchored in operational excellence, safety, and integrity—qualities I continue to champion through OQ CREW’s rigorous vetting process, simulator-based assessments, and commitment to industry standards. We don’t just fill roles—we build careers and elevate crew culture through competency, professionalism, and long-term partnership.
Having worked extensively with fleet managers, owners’ representatives, and training academies worldwide, I am passionate about advancing the global yachting community through collaboration, mentorship, and the cultivation of elite mariner talent.
Kaitlyn Kristal
Deck Officer Recruitment Specialist
Raised on the waters of Michigan, Kaitlyn’s journey began with over a decade in men’s tailored grooming, where she excelled as a hairdresser, marketing manager, and salon leader. Transitioning to the yachting world, she served as Chief Stewardess aboard a 90-foot yacht, completing three-quarters of the Great Loop—an experience that deepened her passion for maritime life. Her expertise expanded into administration and marketing for Protect X Surface Protection, alongside her role as House Manager for Officers Quarters Maritime Study House, a premier accommodation for aspiring deck officers.
Today, Kaitlyn is a Recruitment Specialist for OQ CREW, dedicated to sourcing and placing the industry's finest deck officers and engineers for superyachts. She also serves on the board of the Officers Quarters Alliance as Secretary, contributing to the growth and governance of this elite maritime network. Her diverse background and hands-on experience make her an asset in every role she undertakes.
