OQ Crew - Yacht Crew Placement

At Officers Quarters Crew, we take pride in setting the benchmark for deck officer placement in the yachting industry. Our vetting process is structured to ensure that only the most capable, experienced, and qualified professionals join our roster.

Every deck officer we place undergoes a meticulous evaluation to guarantee their readiness to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and expertise on board.

Our Process

Application Screening & Qualification Verification

License and Certification Review: We start by verifying that all licenses and certifications meet international standards, including STCW, USCG, MCA, and other relevant maritime qualifications.

Background Check: We conduct a comprehensive background check, confirming a clear record in professional, criminal, and financial areas.

Documented Sea Time and References: We review logged sea time and cross-check references from previous captains, vessel owners, and employers to ensure a history of reliability and integrity.

Skill Assessment and Competency Evaluation

Ship Simulator Test:

Candidates undergo our ship simulator test, where they must achieve an 85% pass rate or higher in key areas such as navigation, docking, engineering basics, safety protocols, and vessel handling.

Situational and Emergency Preparedness: Deck officers are evaluated on their ability to respond to simulated emergency scenarios, demonstrating proficiency in safety protocols, crisis management, and firefighting measures.

Interview Process with Real-World Scenario Testing

Behavioral Interview: Our senior maritime professionals conduct in-depth interviews to assess the officer's problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and leadership qualities.

Scenario-Based Questions: Candidates are presented with real-world scenarios to test their decision-making abilities, communication skills, and crew management effectiveness.

Safety and Security Protocol Evaluation: Officers are evaluated on their understanding of advanced safety measures, security procedures, and passenger interaction protocols to ensure smooth and secure operations at all times.

Placement and Support

We provide full transparency throughout the process ensuring trust and satisfaction.

Once placed, we continue to support our mariners with regular check-ins to ensure smooth integration into their crew. We provide guidance on career development within the industry and provide access to training and resources.
